Character Development

The character sketch although promising is currently in it's early stages and needs refinement to make it easier to place in a sprite sheet.  The Character itself is to chubby  and this will make it more difficult to manipulate the sketch for the different poses that are to make up the desired sprite sheet.

The character was slimmed down and the arms and legs are now easier to manipulate as they are more removed from the body. The overall design of the character however has remained the same, the hat and the hair. the face has been rounded slightly and the character is now wearing a shirt and overalls, this fits in more with the engineer side of the characters profile.

To further add to the steam-punk feel a tool belt and pouch have been added. This gives the character more detail.

Using the above template several colour schemes have been tried to determine which best suits the character and the environment. The third colour scheme has been chosen, the green contrasts well with the black and is subtle enough to be effective.

Thus the final character sprite will look as follows however there may be slight changes to clean up all the stray lines and colours that spill out of the character.

  1. Great thought has been put into the development of your sprite Kaylah so that the end user will enjoy playing as this character. This proves that you have interpreted and analysed the needs of the client well.
